Chalong fair packs jobs, free training and public services into one stop

At Robinson Lifestyle Chalong, two days bring together three things people usually chase across the island: jobs, free training and basic public services.

What is happening

On Sept. 17–18, Chalong is hosting a fair focused on improving life for informal workers. In practical terms, it is a one-stop event for people looking for income, a career switch or a quick way back into work. More than 1,000 vacancies from 16 companies are being offered.

The fair is not just about recruitment. It also includes free vocational training, career advice, social welfare checks, social security registration and even health checks with flu vaccinations.

Who it helps

The format is especially useful for people who do not want to spend a whole day visiting different offices. Freelancers, workers without steady contracts, recent graduates and anyone considering a new trade can check jobs, ask about labour rights and sign up for short skills training in one visit.

There is also a small market for independent workers: products from more than 30 occupational groups are on sale, from food and drinks to souvenirs and everyday goods. That makes the event more than a job fair — it is also a place for people trying to build their own income.

What visitors can do there

  • apply for jobs;
  • get career and labour advice;
  • join free training demos;
  • check social security rights;
  • register or update social security status;
  • browse products made by local independent workers.

For Phuket, it is a rare format where work, training and public services meet in one place. That is what makes the event practical for everyday life, not just useful on paper.
