Old Phuket Town will light up for a week of Peranakan stories
From 23 to 29 August, Phuket Old Town will host a new evening walk at Chartered Bank Intersection, with a daily light show celebrating Baba–Peranakan heritage.
What is happening
The programme is built around projection mapping, turning a historic facade into a screen for light, sound, and short cultural storytelling. The week also includes light installations and artistic displays, designed as a walkable evening experience in the old centre.
When to go
The event runs daily from 23 to 29 August 2026. Ten projection-mapping sessions are listed each day: 19:00, 19:20, 19:40, 20:00, 20:20, 20:40, 21:00, 21:20, 21:40, and 22:00.
On opening night, 23 August, the festivities begin at 6:30 PM with Khon, a Thai classical masked dance, followed by live jazz.
Why people will care
For locals, it is an easy reason to head into town after work. For visitors, it is a rare chance to see Old Town after dark, when heritage buildings become part of the performance.
