Patong Beach sign over Bangla Road to be replaced next week
The familiar PATONG BEACH sign over Bangla Rd will be replaced starting 26 September. The old structure will be dismantled in stages through 1 October, and a new one will go up in the same place with the same design.
What is happening
This is not a change of symbol, but a safety-led rebuild. The sign has been in use for more than 10 years and is now described as worn and in need of replacement. Safety is the main reason, especially with heavy foot traffic on Bangla Rd every day.
When and where
Work is scheduled from Saturday, 26 September, to Thursday, 1 October. People moving through the area should expect temporary disruption and allow extra time near Bangla Rd.
What will stay the same
The new sign will keep the same look. The dolphin, lettering and overall composition will remain identical, so the landmark at the entrance to Bangla Rd will still be instantly recognizable.
Why locals and visitors notice it
The sign works as both a meeting point and a photo spot. It has become part of the everyday rhythm of Patong, so even a technical rebuild will be visible to anyone passing through the center of the district.
What to do
If you plan to drive or walk through Bangla Rd next week, build in extra time. If you want the old version in your photos, the final days before dismantling are the last chance.
