Phuket enters a wet spell: thunderstorms and rough seas through 18 October

On 12 October, Phuket’s west coast faces thunderstorms, heavy showers in places, and waves above 2 metres in storm zones.

What the forecast shows

Today’s forecast for Phuket and nearby provinces calls for thunderstorms over 70% of the area. Heavy rain is possible in places, and sea waves may rise above 2 metres where storms develop.

Temperatures stay typical for October: 32–34 °C by day and 23–25 °C at night. Winds are variable at 15–30 km/h.

The week stays unsettled

The seven-day outlook keeps rain in the picture through 17 October. On 11–12 October, thunderstorms are expected across 60–70% of the area with some heavier bursts, while 13–17 October still carries 40–60% thunderstorm coverage.

For areas from Phangnga southward, including Phuket, winds are forecast from the southwest at 15–30 km/h, with seas around 1 metre and higher than 2 metres in storm cells.

Who should pay attention

Residents should allow extra travel time, especially on low-lying or coastal roads. Beach operators and boat services should watch for short weather windows. Conditions at sea and visibility can change fast.

If you are planning a beach day, a boat trip, or a cross-island drive, check the forecast once more before leaving. On Phuket, that simple step often saves time and hassle.
