Phuket Vegetarian Festival processions begin on October 11

The official festival guide is out, removing the biggest uncertainty for residents, workers and visitors. The festival starts on the evening of October 9, runs for nine days, and ends on October 18.

On the evening of October 9, Chinese shrines across the island will raise Go Teng poles, marking the invitation for the Jade Emperor and the Nine Emperor Gods to descend. After that, Phuket moves into a packed rhythm of rituals, vegetarian observance and processions.
