Old Phuket Town EV bus shifts to match Vegetarian Festival crowds
From October 8, Phuket Old Town’s electric sightseeing bus runs on a special festival timetable: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., every 30 minutes, with boarding and drop-off at Dragon Square.
A route tuned to Old Town
The change is small but practical. During the Vegetarian Festival, Phuket’s historic center quickly becomes busier than usual: more pedestrians, more shrine visits, more street food, and less patience for extra cars. The EV Bus schedule was adjusted so people can move through the area without relying on short car trips.
The bus serves 11 stops: Dragon Square, Limelight Avenue, Chartered Bank Intersection, Government Savings Bank, Pearl Hotel, Surin Roundabout, Nawamin Square, Ratsada Road, Wat Klang Intersection, Tua Poh Intersection, and Thao Nam Intersection.
What matters now
The special service runs from October 8 to 18, right through the busiest part of the festival. That makes it useful for residents and visitors who want to explore Old Town without parking stress or extra traffic in narrow streets.
For planning purposes, the simplest approach is to board at Dragon Square and use the bus as a short loop between key Old Town stops. It is one of the easiest ways to reach shrines, markets, and evening walking areas during the festival period.
Why it stands out
Phuket often handles festival crowds with small, practical fixes rather than big gestures. One clear shuttle won’t transform the city, but it does make Old Town easier to move around in a week when every extra car matters.
