In Phuket, August weather can change faster than a drive from home to the beach.

The province page and the South West Coast outlook point to a classic monsoon pattern: thunderstorms, locally heavy rain, southwesterly winds, and waves that rise to around 2 metres or more in rainy areas.
Who should pay attention
Boat operators, small-vessel captains, island-hopping passengers, swimmers, SUP users, anglers and anyone driving along the west coast should take this seriously. A short trip to the pier or a day at the beach can become less comfortable and more risky very quickly.
