Phuket hotel staff put their service skills on display in a weekend exhibition
On 26–27 September, Phuket Rajabhat University hosted the Phuket Hotelier Craft & Skill Exhibition 2026, a two-day hands-on event where hotel staff competed, trained and exchanged experience.
Kitchen, service and equipment
The event brought together hotel workers, operators, industry associations and suppliers. It was built around practical learning: competitions, training sessions and product demonstrations for everyday hotel operations.
The programme included a Phuket sea bass fusion cooking contest, fruit and vegetable carving, and a three-course mystery box challenge that tested speed, presentation and technique. There was also GLASS & WINE TRAINING 2026 and a lobster cooking demonstration.
Right before high season
For Phuket, the timing matters. Late September is when the island begins gearing up for the busier tourist months, and hotels usually want sharper service, faster kitchen flow and stronger guest-handling standards. This was less a show and more a live skills check.
The exhibition opened on 26 September and drew representatives from hotel associations, businesses and the hospitality workforce. It created a rare room where staff, suppliers and managers could meet face to face and compare working methods.
Why it matters locally
For visitors, the effect is simple: better-prepared staff usually show up in breakfast service, bar service, restaurant flow and the small details that shape a stay. For workers, it is a chance to test new techniques, learn from others and take home practical ideas, not just certificates.
These are not the loudest events on the island, but they quietly help keep Phuket’s everyday hospitality standard moving forward.
